Summer Drink Recipes

While it may be tempting to crack open a can of something sugary and bubbly when it’s hot, it’s important to fill your body with the nutrients it needs. If you’re looking for something to cool you down on these hot summer days, that’s more exciting than just water, look no further! Today we’ll be sharing some delicious summer drink recipes. 

HONEY MINT LEMONADE

This recipe is delicious, refreshing, and perfect for a picnic! Stores great in the fridge. If you don’t have a muddler, a thick, wooden spoon is also a great option!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 cup lemon juice
  • 1 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 6 cups cold water

Directions

  1. Warm 1 cup of water in a small pot. Stir in honey and allow to dissolve. Once dissolved, add in fresh mint leaves and use a muddler to combine. Once the mint has been incorporated, remove from heat and allow to cool.
  2. In a pitcher, add remaining cold water, lemon juice, and honey mixture.
  3. Stir well and serve over ice. Garnish with lemon slice and mint leaves if desired. Enjoy!
CHOCOLATE DATE PROTEIN SHAKE

If you want to maximize the benefits (and flavor!) of your protein shakes, try this chocolate date shake. Not only do you get extra nutrients from the kale and bananas, the dates provide an extra boost of protein!

Ingredients

  • 2 bananas, frozen
  • 3 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup kale, deboned and chopped
  • 2 scoops chocolate YES
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk of your choice

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and mix until smooth. Add more or less milk depending on desired consistency. Serve immediately and enjoy!
GREEN CHIA SEED SMOOTHIES

This smoothie is high in nutrients while also being filling! Feel free to substitute fruits as you see fit, or use fresh over frozen! 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup loosely packed chopped kale
  • ⅓ banana, frozen
  • ¾ cup pineapple chunks, frozen
  • ½ cup mango, frozen
  • 1 small orange, peeled
  • 2 tsp. chia seeds
  • ⅓ cup milk of your choice

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and mix until smooth. Add more or less milk depending on desired consistency. Serve immediately and enjoy!
